Urbex in Upper Silesia has always been on our dream list, and when we finally got the chance to step inside one of its monumental blast furnaces, the excitement was overwhelming. These towering industrial giants, once roaring with fire and steel, are now silent reminders of Poland’s rich industrial past. Unlike many urban exploration trips that involve sneaking around fences and risking safety, this was a permission-based visit – which meant we could fully immerse ourselves in the site without fear, and with plenty of time to explore every corner. Walking through the labyrinth of steel structures and endless staircases, we felt both humbled and amazed. With my GoPro, I captured the furnace’s raw scale in motion, while my husband focused on photography, freezing moments of rust, textures, and light into stunning stills. Together, we tried to preserve the atmosphere of a place that once shaped entire communities. For us, the visit was not only about exploration, but also about respect for history. Standing in the heart of this abandoned colossus, we realized it was absolutely worth the journey. This was more than just an urbex trip – it was a step into the industrial soul of Silesia, and a memory we’ll carry forever.
